For Libraries and Bookstores

One of the benefits of writing The Book Club Cookbook is the opportunity to meet book enthusiasts across the country. Speaking to groups at libraries, bookstores and book festivals, as well as private groups, allows us to continue our interactions with people who share our passions. For a complete listing of our events, please click here.

In our presentations, we share what we learned from conversations with hundreds of book club members across the country. We describe the variety of book clubs we found (and how we found them), the creative ways book clubs are integrating food into their meetings, and what we learned from authors about the role of food in their work. In the interactive segment of our presentation, we encourage the audience to share favorite books and tips from their book clubs, and discuss the kinds of foods they might serve with favorite titles. We often tailor our presentation to the topics suggested by the event organizers. Some coordinators have asked us to focus on the process of writing The Book Club Cookbook, for example, or how book club members can enhance their meetings. Generally, a sampling of foods from our book is made available to the audience after our talk — always a welcome aspect of the event!
